Time

It was just yesterday
the now half empty
was completely full
with cookies and candy.
The living room
too is changed,
everything rearranged
and absent the tree
with gifts.
Not one shred
of evidence
that Christmas is
only one single day past.
It seems that time
has won something.
It may be that
I am racing,
not clear on what
the end will be
or what I am trying
to prevent.
A waltz perhaps,
dancing us two,
taking arms to reach
and legs to sweep
everything away.
Time can move
with such ease
and moves us
steadily along
or held tight
within its grip,
but we are moved
rather wanted or not.
It has the lead
and sure to win,
time.
