Giving Words was created to promote, encourage and to raise awareness for literacy. Giving Words, for we are the fortunate ones compared to many. May the efforts and resources provided suggest ways for us to contribute and to make a difference in our world. When we share, we grow and we gain somethhing within while encouraging others to do the same.
Somewhere there is a little girl in the world that is denied an education simply because she is a little girl. She will never know how it feels to have a teacher believe in her and give her that extra bit of attention that makes her feel she has the power to conquer anything. Her will is not given a chance to exceed its tiny limits. She will not experience a far away land that is written in words and dream that she is the main character falling in love or taking a nation by storm. Without an education or learning to read, her soul will not thirst for adventure nor be able to have hope.
In developing countries, children are deprived of books and education as frequently as medicine and food. These Children are far too sick and hungry to even think about learning. However, with continual support to organizations that are changing these statistics, wrongs can be corrected. With proper instruction and education, poverty, disease, and the neglect of human rights may all be reversed. Literacy may seem to be a minimal resolve to such huge issues. However, literacy does seem to hold a bright beginning to creating change and the lack of literacy may after all be the root factor to many of these problems.
