Favorite Author: Mervyn Peake
Favorite Book: The Onion Girl by Charles de Lint
| When asked, Lauren states: 'I am very hard pressed to pick an all-time favourite author and book, as I have so many and it seems unfair to pick one and leave out so many deserving others. I suppose if pressed I would pick Mervyn Peake as my favourite author because of his consummate skill with descriptive prose. My favourite book for now would be The Onion Girl by Charles de Lint but ask me again this time next year and it would surely be different!' |

In Dreams
by Lauren Halkon
In dreams I see
Night shrouded land
Black waters
Where the blue did stand
Visions lost
And visions found
Of faded Folk
In memory
In mine alone
I keep
Fond thoughts
Of Gwynn Ap Nudd
And castle steep
Revolving Isle and wounds so deep
Did Arthur journey here awhile?
Undertake and win his trial?
The hounds still bark
The birds still cry
Caught behind a mist of lies
So topple tower
Fall once more
A maze for me
Born in lore

Lookinglass Works Visionary and Spiritual Arts. The title tells all. Poem after poem and each one a work of art with poetic charge. At this wonderful site you are going to find galleries displaying the incredible art work of Lauren along with prints available for purchase. The author has even made available her original art with free and easy to send ecards as well as beautiful desktop wallpapers.
Two books from Lauren are shared with excerpts from Night Seekers and a story list along with a sample story from Chrysalis. Reviews are posted for both books and what has gone into the making of these publications.
Lauren has also written tutorials on character development, chapter outlines and writing the first chapter. Working to write my first book, I have personally learned a lot from Lauren's tutorials, and I am very excited to use the advise given.
Interviews include 'The Infinity Plus Interview', 'The SFF World Interview', and 'The Eternal Night Interview' where Lauren is the subject and these are linked off site. There is also an interview directly on her site. Lauren lets us in and all that she has to share is uplifting and inspiring. One does not need to be a writer for her words to encourage.
Lauren gives to us pieces of her imagination rolled into the fabric of art and writing with fine exhibits of her skill. She proclaims herself a spiritual and visionary artist, author and poet. I would have to agree, and then some. Her works are absolutely artful, soulful and rich with feeling and expression. Lauren does not end with sharing her expressions and giving inspiration but takes it even further by making clear efforts to teach others how they can achieve the same.
A Personal Message of Commendation Sent...
